Manufacturers realize more and more health conscious consumers want to protect themselves by using safer, non-toxic cleaning products so they have developed a clever marketing plan aimed at influencing your decision making as a shopper. This manipulative advertising concept is known as "greenwashing." Take a look on the store shelves and you'll find many products with "natural", "earth friendly", "organic" and "non toxic" written on the label . Take a closer look at the ingredients (provided they even list them) and you'll find many of these products are anything but "green." Parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial fragrance are just a few ingredients you might see which are not "green." Or how about anionic and nonanionic surfactants. What the heck are those? One of my favorites is "corn derived." Corn derived. Let's think about that. Sounds good. Corn is good, provided it's organic and not covered in GMO's but just how did it go from corn to whatever it is now? They can make gas out of corn but I wouldn't consider that earth friendly. Would you?
